How to Apply

Applicants must be teacherswho represent the contestants’ institution. The steps are outlined below(Walk-in application is not accepted)

1. See details and rules at our website http://www.dpu.ac.th/chinese
2. Click on the menu item“สมัครผู้ใช้งาน” (the applicant must be institution’s teachers only) to enter “the management system of 16th Chinese Diamond Crown Jewel (International Test of Chinese) : ระบบบริหารจัดการการแข่งขันภาษาจีนเพชรยอดมงกุฎ ครั้งที่ 16 (นานาชาติ)” Then select "สร้างบัญชีผู้ใช้งาน" and fill out the form by providing all required information. Select "ยินยอม" to disclose the information and then click on tab “ยืนยันการสร้างบัญชีผู้ใช้งาน” The email will be sent to the applicant’s account. (Every applicant must set up a new user’s account.)
3. Open up the email sent by “cjw.noreply or Crown jewel Contest # 16: Verify Email ([email protected])” and to complete your sign up, please verify your email by click on “Click HERE”. The user’s account and password will be delivered to the applicant via email.
   *** Please click confirm in the email before logging in the system. One institution can have more than one account. Users in the same institution can edit / add / check each candidate’s profile. ***
4. To enter the system, log in http://www.dpu.ac.th/chinese and select “เข้าสู่ระบบภาษาจีนเพชรยอดมงกุฎ” จาก http://www.dpu.ac.th/chinese Then enter the username and password confirmed via the email. (If the application is not confirmed, go back to the item 3).
5. To add applicant’s personal information, click “ลงทะเบียนผู้เข้าแข่งขัน” Select “สร้าง” and provide all required information. For Thai students, the national ID number is required. For foreign national students, select “นานาชาติ” and fill in passport number. For the students without Thai national ID cards or passports, select “นานาชาติ” and fill in the number on Non-Thai ID card issued by Thai Government. In case that students do not have any kinds of ID cards or passport, the institution can issue the student verification letter with a document number and that number will be keyed into the system. The letter must also be shown on the test date to be eligible to take the exam.
6. For the teacher accompanying the student, click “ผู้ติดตาม” Select “สร้าง” to fill in personal information or “แก้ไข” to change or add more information.
7. The users (institution’s teacher) are able to change or add more information before 12:00 p.m. (midnight) of July 12, 2019. (Online application will be automatically closed before the closing date if the limit for the number of applicants is reached.)

9. Online application will be automatically closed before the closing date if the limit for the number of applicants is reached. (In previous years. it was closed within 2 weeks after the first day of application for Upper Secondary (Mathayom 4-6) level and within 3 weeks for Lower Secondary (Mathayom 1-3) and Basic Education level.
10. From 17 July 2019 onwards, the applicants are able to
    • Check the status, the seat numbers, and the room numbers.
    • Print out the application documents “ใบตอบรับการแข่งขัน” (consisting of lists of caretakers, accompanying teachers and contestants) for the institution administrator’s endorsement. The documents must be submitted at the administration center located in front of the elevator of Chalermprakiat Building (building 7) on the event day (18 August 2019).
    • Print the confirmation document “ใบยืนยันการสมัครแข่งขัน” according to the number of candidates (one per each candidate) in order to use it as the evidence, together with the contestants’ national ID cards, passports, or the student verification letter issued by the institution, to enter the examination room. (If you do not have the printed confirmation document, the exam committee reserves the right to deny your entry to the examination room.)
11. On the test date, the system is closed at 9.30 in the morning to process examination results. The system can be accessed again from 12.00 to 13.00 when the results of the second round of the competition (Diamond Cutting Round) are announced.
12. Teachers and students who want to examine the scores of the examination can access the website http://www.dpu.ac.th/chinese and click on the menu item “ตรวจสอบผลการแข่งขัน” or click on the link https://resultcjw.dpu.ac.th
    Note:
    User (ผู้ใช้งาน) means the teacher who is responsible for adding student name list into the system. He/ She may or may not be the one who takes the students to the competition.
    Caretaker (ผู้ดูแล) means the teacher who is eligible to be the user of the institution and also responsible for adding student name list into the system. He/ She may or may not be the one who takes the students to the competition.
    Accompanying teacher (ผู้ติดตาม) means the teacher who is responsible for taking the students to the competition. His/her name must be listed in the reply document. The number of accompanying teachers can be added as necessary by the “user’ of the institution.

Requirements for the contestants

1. Contestants must apply for the competition level according to their current education level at school in the academic year 2019 (both Thai and International schools). The competition levels are Primary School Grade 1-3, Primary School Grade 4-6, Secondary School Grade 1-3, and Secondary School Grade 4-6.
2. Contestants must be the representatives nominated by their schools, and the application documents must be endorsed by the school’s administrators.
3. Contestants must wear the proper student uniform that complies with their school dress codes.
4. Contestants must show their “national ID cards or passport, together with the confirmation document (ใบยืนยันการสมัครแข่งขัน)” to the proctors on the test date.

Competition Rules

1. The competition is an individual competition and the competitions are divided into two categories: Competition for Thai national contestants and Competition for International contestants.
2. The competition in the academic year 2018 has 4 levels (for both Thai and International schools) which are (1) Primary School Grade 1-3; (2) Primary School Grade 4-6; (3) Secondary School Grade 1-3; and (4) Secondary School Grade 4-6.
3. Schools can send any number of students to compete in any of the four levels as long as they are endorsed by the school’s administrators. (As mentioned in the application form).
4. The competition is divided into three rounds as follows
   4.1 Diamond Selecting Round (Round 1): Schools select students for the competition.
   4.2 Diamond Cutting Round (Round 2): On the test date which will be held on 18 August 2019, all students from Round 1 will do the Chinese proficiency test. The top ten students with the highest scores will be listed to compete in the Diamond Crown Jewel Round (Round 3).
   Thai national contestants who rank from 11st to 50th places will receive consolation awards and scholarships of 1,000 baht, the 51st – 100th places will receive an Examination Passing Certificate, and no certificates for International contestants.
   4.3 Diamond Crown Jewel Round (Round 3): The top ten students with the highest scores from the Diamond Cutting Round (Round 2) must demonstrate the ability to write an essay and deliver a speech in Chinese without use of notes. The topics of the essay and the speech will be assigned by the committee on the test date. (The essay must be completed within 1 hour with at least 200 characters for Primary School Grade 1-3 students; at least 500 characters for the Primary School Grade 4-6 students; at least 1,000 characters for Secondary School Grade 1-3 students; and at least 1,500 characters for Secondary School Grade 4-6 students. The speech is expected to last for a maximum of 5 minutes.)

Awards for Chinese learning support (Thai national contestants)

1. The schools of the students who get the winner award (gold medal), 1st runner-up award (silver medal), or 2nd runner-up award (bronze medal) will also receive the honor plaque.
2. The teachers of the students who enter The Diamond Crown Jewel Round (Round 3) will receive a certificate and a commemorative medal.
3. The parents of the students who enter the Diamond Crown Jewel Round (Round 3) will receive a certificate.

Awards for Chinese learning support (International contestants)

The teachers of the students who enter The Diamond Crown Jewel Round (Round 3) will receive a certificate.
