DPUIC is Thailand’s Best – Basketball Gold Medal

DPUIC recently won the national gold medal in Thailand’s Basketball University League, 2009/2010. 

The final round of 16-teams was hosted by Thammasat Univresity between the 22-30 January, 2010.  The competition started with teams from no less than 67 Thai universities. 

An outstanding achievemnt for our students and our university.

Guest Lecture Series – Prof. Mikael Lundgren – Linnaeus University, Sweden

Professor Mikael Lundgren of Linnaeus University, Kalmar Sweden, is participating in an academic exchange program with DPUIC.  

During his stay Mikael has contributed to our both our Hospitality and Tourism, and Business Administration programs by offering a series of special lectures; in topics ranging from ethical marketing, to leadership and strategic thinking.

We would like to offer our appreciation and thanks for Mikael’s contribution to the ongoing success of our international college.

The time has come to announce the DPUIC ‘Student Ambassador to State of the World Forum 2009′ competition winner.  The judges had some tough decisions to make as the quality of all our final five entrants was very high, and as a result of the overall quality we are also able to offer a runner-up prize…

Global Conference on Aquaculture 2010, Bangkok, 9-12 June

In 1976, FAO held the first ever global conference on aquaculture, the Kyoto Conference, which triggered the recognition of aquaculture as a significant food production sector and explored opportunities for aquaculture development. With aquaculture now providing nearly 50% of global food fish supplies, FAO in partnership with NACA and the Thai Department of Fisheries, are organising the Global Conference on Aquaculture 2010, 9-12 June, Bangkok, Thailand, to evaluate where the sector stands today and prepare for the challenges ahead. The objectives of the conference are to:

  • Review the present status and trends in aquaculture development.
  • Evaluate the progress made in the implementation of the 2000 Bangkok Declaration and Strategy.
  • Address emerging issues in aquaculture development.
  • Assess opportunities and challenges for future aquaculture development.
  • Build consensus on advancing aquaculture as a global, sustainable and competitive food production sector.

The conference will provide a global forum to build consensus to advance sustainable aquaculture development and contribute to the Millennium Development Goals. Final Round: Student Ambassador to State of the World Forum Competition

The time has come for our five lucky contenders to present their essays to our panel of esteemed judges. One exceptional winner will have the opportunity to fly to Washington D.C. next February to attend State of the World Forum. Our judging panel includes: Prof. Dr. Richard Hames, Founding Director of the Asian Foresight Institute; Sunit Shrestha, Managing Director of ChangeFushion; and, Steve Pearmain, Managing Director of SLP Environmental.

We like to offer our international students the opportunity to become immersed in Thai Culture. So, our Swedish cohort have been participating in a DPU special class teaching students how to create a kratong.

Don’t miss it!  DPUIC Study Abroad Programs 2009 Seminar will be held on Friday, August 21, 2009 from 4.30-5.30pm in Sajja 1 Room, President’s Building.  Recommended for all first to third year students who want to find out what options are available to them for studying a semester abroad.

Youth Writers Awards Asia 2010 English Writing Competition

The Youth Writers Awards Asia 2010 is jointly organized by the National Library Board (NLB) of Singapore and Reader’s Digest ASIA (RDA) in celebration of Singapore hosting the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games.  The competition is designed to aid youths around Asia in developing a spirit of sportsmanship, to encourage reading, as well as to create a common topic of discussion and encourage the exchange of ideas.  The theme of the competition is “Dare to Dream: Stories of Imagination, Passion and Sporting Excellence”. Participants can write a short story (fictional or non-fictional) in English describing the nature of individual love and passion for sport(s) including values such as friendship, the will to go the extra mile, honesty, fair play, hard work, respect for everyone regardless of differences etc. They can share their dreams, true feelings, joys, frustrations or special memories they may have about sports through the medium of the short story.

Mr. Charrie Rakwongskaseam (Lee)  and Ms. Thananyarat Auttathanasarn (Ae), two new, first-year students in DPUIC, recently competed in the University’s Star and Moon Contest 2009, showing off their good-looks and outstanding talent to a roaring crowd.
