Rules

    • Submissions will be accepted until 17th July, 2009.
    • Each participant may submit only one entry.
    • Participants must be a current DPU/DPUIC student.
    • Participant must be of Thai or Thai dual nationality and speak/write fluent Thai language.
    • Essays must be between 1,000 and 2,000 words in length.
    • Submissions can only be made online, in English.
    • Each participant must fill in a submission form which can be downloaded from the Essay Competition website, see resources page. The submission form must be sent with your application.
    • Each essay must be accompanied by a summary (max. 200 words). The summary will be used by the jury to make a pre-selection.
    • All submissions will be blind reviewed. References to specific individuals, groups, or faculties, which might reveal the author's identity, are not allowed. Please do not indicate your name anywhere on your work.
    • Quotes and references must be clearly marked throughout the essay and properly cited, using the Harvard referencing style.
    • All submissions must be original. No previously published material will be accepted. Any form of plagiarism will result in automatic disqualification. Please note that all essays will be screened with specialized software to check for plagiarism.
    • Essays are accepted in the .doc or .pdf format
    • The Asian Foresight Institute and DPU reserve the right to publish and/or to make available to the public the winning submissions. The Asian Foresight Institute and DPU reserve the right to modify the format and content of the submissions for publication purposes. 
    • The decision of the Jury is final and is not subject to an appeal.
    • Active (between the time of essay submission and the Final Jury in June 2009), paid staff (term or open-ended) of partner organizations (see list) of Essay Competition 2009 are not eligible to participate.
    • Your essay will be assessed on content (ideas and arguments) and writing skill (organization and grammatical accuracy).
    • Successful essay entrants will be notified of progression to the second round by 3rd of August, 2009
    • Round 2 will invole a presentation of your essay
    • Round 2 competition rules will be provided to successful entrants
