SOWF Competition Prize and Commitments

The winner of the essay and speaking competition will receive the auspicious title of ‘SOWF Youth Ambassador for Thailand’.   This is a substantial opportunity that will provide you with excellent skills and experience, on a global scale.  The successful student should also be better prepared to enter the employment market. 

The role of ambassador will be a 12-month appointment that will include the following prize:

• Return economy airfare from Bangkok to Washington DC
• Five days hotel accommodation, all inclusive, at a hotel in Washington
• Full registration to all ‘State of the World Forum 2009 sessions’
• You will also have some time for shopping and sight-seeing

The role will encompass the following duties during the 12-month appointment:

• To learn about the important role of SOWF
• During the SOWF the ambassador will network and interact with other SOWF youth ambassadors, in particular the Brazilian Ambassador
• Upon return from SOWF the ambassador will provide an address to DPU students about the SOWF, the aims, objectives and responsibilities we all have
• To write a minimum of two articles for local or national newspapers or magazines
• To visit at least two other universities in Thailand, possibly ASEAN, to spread the word of SOWF

Note 1:  The winning student will be provided with visa assistance; however, it is the students’ responsibility to ensure appropriate visa status is achieved prior to departure.

Note 2: The winning student will have support from members of SOWF, AFI and DPUIC as all stages of the ambassadorial role, although a level of personal responsibility and autonomy is expected
