How to Apply
Applicants must be lecturers who represent the candidates’ institution. The steps are outlined below:

  1. See details and rules at our website:   http://www.dpu.ac.th/chinese
  2. Click "Enter the Contest" (the applicant must be and then click “Create a user’s account”. Fill out the form, providing all required information. Create your own account and the password so that you can later confirm your application and edit / add / check the applicant’s profile. (One institution can have more than one account. Users in the same institution can edit / add / check each candidate’s profile.) Click “I agree” (to disclose the information) before clicking “create the user’s account”.
  3. Click “log in” in order to register for the competition. Fill out the form, providing all required information.
  4. The applicants can save or edit the candidate’s profile until 14 July 2017, 12.00 am. The online application system will be closed after that. If you require any other information or need to edit the candidate’s profile, please contact http://www.dpu.ac.th/chinese or Tel. 02954-7300 ext. 899.
  5. One week after the last day of application, the applicants can check the status, the seat numbers, and the room numbers. Please print out the application document for the institution administrator’s endorsement. You need to submit this document at the administration center on the event day (6 August 2017). Please print the confirmation document according to the number of candidates in order to use it to enter the examination room. (If you do not have the printed confirmation document, the board reserves the right to deny your entry to the competition.)

 

Requirements for the candidates / contestants

  1. Candidates must apply for the contest level according to their current education level at school in the year 2017 (both Thai and International schools). The contest levels are: Primary School grade 1-3, Primary School grade 4-6, Secondary School grade 1-3, and Secondary School grade 4-6.
  2. Candidates must be presented by the school they are attending, and approved by the school’s administrators. Each school can enter more than one in each category.
  3. Contestants must wear proper student uniform that complies with their school regulations.
  4. Contestants must bring their School ID or National ID on the event day.

 

Competition Rules

  1. The contest is created for individual contestants only and the contestants are divided into two categories. The categories are: 1) contestants with Thai and non-Chinese nationality, and 2) contestants with Chinese nationality.
  2. The competition has 4 levels (for both Thai and International schools) which are:
    1. Primary School Grade 1-3.
    2. Primary School Grade 4-6.
    3. Secondary School Grade 1-3.
    4. Secondary School Grade 4-6.
  3. Schools can send any number of students to compete in any of the four levels as long as they are endorsed by the school’s administrators. (As details of the application)
  4. The competition is divided into three rounds as follows:
    1. Diamond Selecting Round (round 1):  Schools select students for the competition.
    2. Diamond Cutting Round (round 2): All students from round 1 will do a series of exams to measure their competency in the Chinese language. The Contest Committee will then select the top ten students with the highest scores to compete in the Diamond Crown Jewel Round (round 3). contestants with Thai and non-Chinese nationality who rank 1st through 10th place will compete in the Diamond Crown Jewel Round (round 3), and the 11th - 50th will receive consolation scholarships of 1,000 baht, and the 51st – 100th place will receive the Qualified Award and Certificate.
    3. The Diamond Crown Jewel Round (round 3): Students must demonstrate the ability to write an essay and deliver a speech without looking at their essay notes. The topic of the essay and speech will be given by the committee on the event day.

 

Scope of Diamond Crown Jewel Chinese Language Competency Contest

หนังสือท่องเที่ยวเมืองจีนอย่างสุขสันต์ (“Enjoyable China Travel Book”) from the Romchatra Foundation is primarily used for the contest.

  • Primary School Grade 1-3 for the 1st book series.
  • Primary School Grade 4-6 for the 1st – 2nd book series
  • Secondary School Grade 1-3 for the 3rd - 4th book series.
  • Secondary School Grade 4-6 for the 5th – 6th book series.
 
The number of characters to be used in the Chinese Essay
  • Primary School Grade 1-3 is at least 200 characters.
  • Primary School Grade 4-6 is at least 500 characters.
  • Secondary School Grade 1-3 is at least 1,000 characters.
  • Secondary School Grade 4-6 is at least 1,500 characters.

  2. The lecturers of students who enter The Diamond Crown Jewel Round (round 3) will receive a certificate and a commemorative medal.
  3. The parents of students who enter the Diamond Crown Jewel round (round 3) will receive a certificate.
